Unit 34

This is a Photoshopped picture of  a face using a bunch of fruit and vegetables.
I used the select tool to pick them out and placed them in place

This is a Photoshopped picture of a scare crow next to a cottage.
This is a Photoshopped picture of a whale in the water
This is a Photoshopped picture of a onion with face parts attached to it.

This is a Photoshopped picture of a bug in a mug.
This is a Photoshopped of a horse in a fish bowl

This is a picture with a changed colour to make the picture easier to see.

These are pattens made in photoshop. These was made by playing around with filter, placement, colour and tones of the program to give a range of textures.

The outline was taken from the internet

then using the select tool and the fill bucket I fill in with colours

Added a background texture and armour textures

Added hair and skin textures.

This is my skin photoshopped picture. I have made this by using a gradient tool to make the background then added a metal texture and set it to overlay to create a red textured background, then I used a text called bubblegum and placed the word "skin" in the middle. Then I added the skin texture over the word then selecting the word and inverse it so everything but the word was selected and deleted it so the word had a skin texture on it. After that I used the burn tool to give the outer lay of the letters some shading and used the dodge tool to give the middle some light to it. Then I chopped the "I" with the lasso tool and place some meat in the middle to look like the "I" has been chopped.

This is my metal photoshopped picture. I have made this by using a gradient tool to make the background then added a metal texture and set it to overlay to create a black textured background. Then I used a text called Metal Lord and placed the word "metal" in the middle. Then I added the Metal texture over the word then selecting the word and inverse it so everything but the word was selected and deleted it so the word had  metal texture on it. After that I used the burn tool to give the outer lay of the letters some shading and used the dodge tool to give the middle and the shine that would reflect the light of the welding some light. The I started placing feathered and overlay rust pattens into the word and used the inverse select on the word to get rid of the outside rust. I used feather and overlay on the flame as well.

This is my photoshopped picture using both texture and text to create a artwork

I have used these pictures to create this picture below

This is my photoshopped work using pictures and objects that I have taken.

This is my photoshopped picture of a parrot, this was made during the easter hoilday

This collage is a picture of a skull that has been covered by plant-life. It has a lot of colour to this and it uses the white space on the outside to draw attention to the skull it also uses dark colours for tone. The techniques that have been used for this collage are blending, the use of masks and multi-layering. The media that been used to make this collage are photos, computer-software and the use of scanning.

This collage is a picture of a pretty messy fox. It has quite a few colours that suits the fox and the white space are used the draw you in to the fox. The collage is very messy on purpose to give a sense of depth. The techniques used to make this collage are blending, the use of water and sketching. The media that been used to make this are water paints, pencil and a small around of computer-software.

This collage is a picture of a flock of birds. It has a few colours that really stick out of the white space to bring attention to it self. The techniques used to create this collage are using simple shape, using bright colours to make it stick out of the white space and printing to create a texture of its own. The media that were used are printing, painting and the use of computer software.

This collage is a picture of overgrown flowers. It has one or two colours but there is a lot of tone to the colours them. The techniques used to create this collage are copy n paste, the use of tone and blending the leaf colours together. The media that was used are computer soft-ware, paints and pencil

This collage is a picture of balloons over Victorian London. It has a few colours that helps make the balloons stick out more and the white space was kept to draw attention to the ballons, it also has complex detail with a more child like feel over all with the more purposely quick drawn part. The techniques used for this collage are shading, blending and the use of tone to show whats in the distance and what is in the forefront. The media that has been used to create this is pencils, pens, water paints and the use of computer soft-ware.

This collage is a picture of a simplified version of the twin peaks. It uses flat colours that stand out from each other and the white space is use to separate the colours more. The techniques that was used for this collage are multi-layering, the use of simple shapes and the lack of use of tone. The media that was used to make the collage was computer-software.

WOMAD Project

This poster was made by using computer software with digital photos. My first reaction to seeing this WOMAD poster is the cloud design is quite creative. The colours of the poster works in its favour because it is the colour of the sky with the blue background and the yellow typeface is like the sun. There is a lot of white space in this poster to keep the poster as simple as possible with a cloud lion in the middle to draw attention to it.

This poster was made by using computer software to create the complex pattens. My first reaction to the WOMAD poster is the pattens are varied and complex. The typeface seems simple and basic at a first glance but by looking at it more closely you can see bits of detail that would normally be missed and therefore the person who made this has spend more time on this then most people would assume otherwise. The artist uses the colours to effect by making it all hot colours like a colour of passion or like the hot sun in the middl of summer or a lot like Africa where most of these  print designs come from.

This WOMAD poster was made by using computer software and using photos to create a cutout like work. My first reaction to the poster is that the typeface stands out quite a lot even if there is quite a lot happening on the poster in the first place. The typeface seems to be giving a rugged vibe from it with the ageing effect from parts of the typeface. The colour of this poster is that it is giving a lot of blue out creating a calming vibe. The guy that is enjoying himself is placed in the middle and is in black which contrasts from the rest of the work and therefor is standing out. I think that the poster achieves its goal because it very eye catching and it looks like it could be a lot of fun from what the poster is presenting.
This WOMAD poster was made by using computer software and the use of scanning with the shapes. My first reaction to the poster is that the bird design seems very retro and has some nice colours with it. The typeface has both a elegant side and a basic style with it and it does not take too much attention from the image. The bird has been place in the middle of the page to give that the most attention with the typeface being at the bottom to make it easy to read. I think that this does the design purpose because its simple, its colourful and the white space has been used right.

This WOMAD poster was made by using pencil sketchs then scanned in with computer software to edit it around. The first reaction to the poster is that lion is very colourful and it has names of countries in them. The typeface may seem pretty basic at first but if you look closely at the name, there is little details within the typeface to create a small amount of depth within the typeface. The lion is in the middle to draw attention to the creative picture of the lion, with the words at the bottom to make it easy to read. This poster fits the design purpose because its simple and colourful at the same time and it has a   lot of countries in the lion to say that its doing what its set out to do.

This woodstock poster was made by using simple cut outs to create a simple and effective picture of both peace and music. My first reaction to this work is that the picture is very simple and creative. The typeface of this work is very child and relaxed-like to create a easy-going feel with the poster. The picture is placed in the upper middle as most people look the left first and therefor will see the creative picture before the more child-like typeface. This fits the design purpose because of the fact that it is using simple cut outs to great effect and the fact that its simple makes it easier on the eyes.

This Street Scene poster was made by cut outs and then computer software to copy and paste the cut outs around the poster. My first reaction to this poster is that it is very colourful and there is a lot happening on the poster. The typeface itself is sharp and it fits the cut outs to make sure it dont stick out from the rest of the work. The pictures are placed all around the poster to give it a lively effect on the poster with the typeface on the right and bottom to keep the reading to a minium. I think this fits the design purpose because its saying that its all lively and full of life with this poster and it temps the viewer to see more.

This Glastonbury poster was made by using cut outs then scanned in with computer software to cut out the cut outs to make the word Glastonbury on the poster. My first reaction to the poster is that the word itself is very colourful and is huge. The typeface of the word Glastonbury is huge and colourful, maybe too huge and colourful. The word is place on top to let the person see it before anything else even though it will be the first thing that people will see anyways. I think that it does fit the design purpose because of the colours of the word itself, but it is way too big for no reason other then it being big.

This electro-fest poster was made by computer software. The first reaction to this poster is that the creature in the middle is very detailed and has this cutesy look to it. The typeface is of this poster is purposely like the fur of this creature to make the poster a bit more simple. The creature is in the middle to draw attention to it while the typeface is around the creature to make sure that the typeface dont take away too much attention to the creature. This fits the design purpose because you can say that anyone is welcome to the festival, even that creature there is welcome.

This Byron-bay festival poster is made with computer software with photos used to give it some more depth. My first reaction to this work is that it is very colourful but my eyes are drawing to the black and white picture. the typeface on the top is quite elegant and eye catching to draw the viewer in and then it becomes more simple to make it easier for more people to read the text. The visuals are in the middle to make it eye catching and easier to see some of the typeface while the typeface itself is on top and bottom to make sure the visuals are being seen more. I think that this fits the design purpose because its colourful and its very eye catching with the black and white photo to draw the eye on that.

This Ecos-Rock poster is made using photos scanned in to create with computer software. My first reaction to this work is that it is very green which matchs what its trying to do, being a eco-friendly festival. The typeface on this is quite simple to not take away too much attention from the visual work. The visual is in the middle to draw attention to that more while the typeface is trying to not get much attention. I think this fits the design purpose because of the use of green to make it look eco-friendly.

This DOWNLOAD poster is made by sketching out the sides then scanning using computer software and done the middle part of that.My first reaction to this work is that its very detailed on the outside making me wanna see whats on the inside. The typeface is varied and detailed and is true to the bands. Having the drawings on the outside means that there is not much visuals on the inside, only the information is on the inside which can be better if you just want to tell someone who is on. I think it fits the design purpose because its doing the job of telling the viewer the information that they would need for the festival.

This is a Indian culture mood board. I think that I am going to using the bottom left patten for the nice seamless effect it gives.

This is a Japanese culture mood board. I think im going to use the upper left patten for its simplicity.

This is the typeface research for the WOMAD posters.

This is my final piece for the Womad poster project. I started by drawing three quick sketch outs of designs for the poster and from the three ideas I have taken two of them and developed the work further to create ideas for the final artwork and having ideas from the plans that I have made I created the final piece. The lion idea got dropped because I did not know how to create the idea with computer software properly. The first thing I have done is tried to create the earth with the flags as a centre piece and using a bunch of instruments around the earth, but it started to make the poster look too complex and confusing to the eye so I have toned it down by only using one instruments. I created the guitar by using a picture of a guitar and then placing a texture over the guitar and cut out the outside of the guitar on the texture layer. The background was made by using layer masks in the middle to create the brightness around the guitar and then used a picture of clouds to create a sky like feeling. What I think worked well was the use of the earth within the texture-guitar make it look like the hole of it. What I thought did not go so well was is the typeface of the poster is not really a fit for the poster and is kinda out of place. If I had to do something differently I would change the typeface to something that would match the style of the poster more.

Own Idea Collage

This collage that was made by David Mach by using newspaper clippings. My first reaction to this work is that the collage is very busy and is full of life and colour. The theme of this collage is that it is a very busy beach holiday thats not relaxing but enjoyable because the collage looks very busy. The foreground with lots of people and rides takes a lot of the attention then the more simple background. What I like about this work is that it manages to be busy without it being over the top and confusing to the eye, but what I dont like about this work is the ride to the left seems a bit unnecessary.

This collage was made by using newspaper clippings and computer software. My first reaction to this work is that it is very peaceful and its very green with maybe a environmental message. The theme of this collage is its a peaceful family bike ride through the mountains. The part of this collage that draws attention to me is the big road in the middle because of it being out of place. What I like about this work is the peacefulness and how eco-friendly looking the collage is but what I dont like about this collage is the light blue flat colour that is behind the road, it feels out of place and a water texture would improve it  more in my opinion.

This collage was made by the use of computer software. My first reaction to this work is it looks very busy and it feels a bit surreal. The theme of this collage is the disconnect from the city life like looking through the eyes of someone that is not at all familiar to this kind of thing. The part that draws more attention to me is the cars because it looks more disconnected and more split up from it self. What I like about this work is the split ups are done right and is not overdone to make it look like a mess but what I dont like about this work is the picture itself is not the most interesting,  I hope this artist made something like this with a different picture.

This collage was made by using paper clippings and photograph clippings. My first reaction to this work is that it is quite messy in a good way to show off as much as one collage can show off. What I think the theme is of this collage is probably the life of a mechanic and all the confusion that comes with it. The part that draw more attention is the face to the right because its there looking at you and it takes quite a lot of space for it to be there without reason. What I like about this collage is its quite surreal for the right reasons but what I dont like about this work is the use of typeface with the collage.

This collage was made by using newspaper clippings and photograph clippings. My first reaction to this  work is that it has a good use of placement for the photographs. I think the theme here is about wars and what people are fighting for as a reminder. The part that draws attention to me the most is the face of the women in the upper right because it sticks out like a sore thumb. What I like about this work is it tells a message without forcing it down your throat but what I dont like about it is there is a lack of things going on within this collage. It would be better if there was more there to say that these men are fighting for a lot more.

This collage was made by using photoshop and photographs. My first reaction to this collage is that it has a interesting effect with having both day and night within this collage. this theme is about the changes of day to night to show there is a big different between the two. The part that draws my attention the most is the building in the middle because it is the has the most of both day and night. What I like about this work is the day and night being binded together but what I dont like about this work is the squares are almost random and I think that it makes it look sloppy.

These are my sketches up ideas for my own collage. My first idea is a face made out of my bag stuff, I feel like this fits my idea of being distracted by work and your things because you ARE your things and you distract yourself with these things. My second idea is the whole day within one picture from start to finish. This fits the idea because you are doing this almost everyday and you get distracted by all this, later on this idea does not go any further for the other better two ideas. My third is a picture of me getting surrounded by stuff I use in the college day to get work done. This fits the idea because of being distracted by the work around you and it feels like you never get time to yourself.

These are pictures that I have taken with my phone and with photoshop I will make two colleges out of these.

background

added bag for head

added paper with pen for eyes

added rubber for nose

used pencils for mouth and neck lines

added written work for colour in the neck lines

tried to redesign the neck but did not work out

Rebalanced the colours and lights in the background.

Background

placed pencils and rubber then set the layer to "Luminosity"

Added the Mac to the collage

Added my bag to the collage

Added digital work to my collage

Used black and white then used layer mask with gradient to create the colour to black and white on the outside

Changed a small amount of colour around and changed the pencils

added a TV static to the layer mask to create a fizzle like effect.

These are two of the three ideas that I have done within photoshop.
